Good to know

Why does ShieldOne ask for a VPN permission?
iOS only allows DNS filtering through a local VPN configuration. ShieldOne creates a tunnel on your device — your traffic is never sent to our servers, and there is no ShieldOne cloud.
Is ShieldOne an antivirus?
No. ShieldOne is a DNS-level firewall that blocks connections to known malicious, phishing and scam domains. It reduces risk but is not a complete security solution and does not scan files.
Can I use it with another VPN?
iOS allows only one active VPN at a time, so ShieldOne cannot run alongside another VPN or iCloud Private Relay.
Where are my DNS queries sent?
Blocked domains never leave your device. For allowed domains, ShieldOne forwards the lookup to Quad9 (9.9.9.9), a privacy-focused public resolver that does not log queries. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Do hotel and airport Wi-Fi logins still work?
Some captive portals need filtering paused briefly. You can pause protection for 5 or 15 minutes from the Protection tab; it resumes automatically.
