Walking Coach ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
In short: Your health and fitness data stays on your device. We do not collect, store, or sell your personal information to any third party.
1. Information We Collect
Walking Coach collects the following data, all of which is stored locally on your device:
- Profile Information: Age, gender, height, and weight that you enter during onboarding. This is used to calculate your daily step goal, calorie estimates, and weight loss projections.
- Health & Fitness Data: Step count, walking distance, active calories, and floors climbed, read from Apple HealthKit with your explicit permission.
- Weight Loss Plan Data: Your goal weight, timeline selection, and daily progress toward your fat burning target.
- Workout Data: GPS route, duration, distance, pace, and calorie data recorded during workout sessions.
- Location Data: GPS coordinates are collected only during active workout sessions to map your route. Location data is never collected in the background.
2. How We Use Your Information
All data processing happens locally on your device. We use your information to:
- Calculate personalized daily step and calorie targets
- Display your weight loss projection and fat burn progress
- Track workout routes and performance metrics
- Award achievement badges based on your activity
- Show daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly activity trends
3. Data Storage
All your personal data is stored locally on your device using an encrypted database. Your data is never uploaded to any external server. If you delete the app, all locally stored data will be permanently removed.
Subscription status is securely stored in the iOS Keychain and synced through your Apple ID as part of the standard App Store purchase mechanism.
4. Third-Party Services
Walking Coach uses the following third-party services:
- Apple HealthKit: To read your step count, distance, calorie, and floor data. We only read data; we do not write to HealthKit. Access requires your explicit permission and can be revoked at any time in Settings.
- Apple StoreKit (In-App Purchases): To process subscription purchases. Payment is handled entirely by Apple. We do not see or store your payment details.
- Analytics: We collect anonymous, aggregated usage analytics to improve the app experience. This data cannot be used to identify individual users. No personal health data is included in analytics.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third party. Your health and fitness data never leaves your device.
6. Children's Privacy
Walking Coach is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data: All your data is visible within the app.
- Delete your data: Use the "Delete All Data" option in Settings to permanently remove all stored data.
- Revoke permissions: You can revoke HealthKit and location permissions at any time through your device's Settings app.
- Cancel subscriptions: Manage or cancel your subscription through Apple's subscription management.
8. HealthKit Disclosure
Walking Coach integrates with Apple HealthKit to provide accurate step counting and activity tracking. In compliance with Apple's requirements:
- HealthKit data is not used for advertising or marketing purposes.
- HealthKit data is not sold to third parties, including advertising platforms and data brokers.
- HealthKit data is not shared with third parties for purposes unrelated to health or fitness.
9. Subscription Terms
Walking Coach offers auto-renewable subscriptions:
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
- You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID account settings.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
