1. Summary
SleepSounds is built privacy-first. We do not track you, sell your data, or use third-party advertising. Your sleep answers and chosen mixes stay on your device. We use a small amount of anonymous analytics to understand how the app is used in aggregate.
2. What we collect
2.1 Stored only on your device
- Your onboarding answers (sleep goal, sleep duration, problems, fall-asleep time, morning feeling).
- Your computed Sleep Score.
- Your saved mixes, last-used timer, and recently played sounds.
- A locally cached "premium active" flag (the App Store remains the source of truth).
This information never leaves your device unless you explicitly contact us about it.
2.2 Anonymous analytics
We use Firebase Analytics (Google) to collect aggregated, anonymous usage events. No personal identifiers, name, email, contacts, location, microphone, or camera data are collected. Specifically we may log:
- Screen views (which screens are opened) — to understand the funnel.
- Onboarding step progress and completion.
- Paywall views, plan selections, and purchase outcomes (success / failure).
- Which sounds are played or stopped, timer presets used, sleep mode opens.
- Sleep Score values (numeric only — never tied to your identity).
App tracking transparency: SleepSounds does not track you across apps or websites.
Our NSPrivacyTracking declaration is set to false.
2.3 Subscription transactions
When you start a free trial or purchase a subscription, the transaction is handled entirely by Apple's StoreKit. We receive only an entitlement signal ("active" or "not active") and never see your payment information.
2.4 Audio
The app plays audio files bundled inside the app. We never record from your microphone. The microphone is not accessed and the relevant permission is not requested.
3. How we use it
- To compute your Sleep Score (locally) and show personalized recommendations.
- To remember your preferences across sessions.
- To understand which features are valuable so we can improve them.
- To detect and fix bugs and crashes.
We never use any data for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.
4. Third parties
The only third parties involved in the app are:
- Apple — App Store distribution, StoreKit subscriptions, lock-screen controls (MPNowPlayingInfoCenter). Subject to Apple's privacy policy.
- Google (Firebase Analytics) — anonymous usage analytics. Subject to Firebase's privacy and security commitments.
5. Subscriptions
SleepSounds offers Weekly, Monthly, and Yearly auto-renewable subscriptions. Free trials may be available on first purchase. Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end.
- Pricing is shown in the app and on the App Store at the time of purchase.
- Manage or cancel anytime in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
- Refunds are handled by Apple per the App Store refund policy.
- Restoring purchases is available from the in-app paywall and Settings screen.
6. Your rights
Because most of your data is stored locally on your device, you have full control:
- Reset your data: open Settings inside the app and tap "Reset onboarding" to clear your stored answers and the Sleep Score.
- Disable analytics: if you prefer no analytics at all, you can opt out in your iOS device settings, or delete the app.
- Right to access / deletion: for any analytics events tied to your anonymous installation ID, contact us and we will delete them within 30 days.
7. Children's privacy
SleepSounds is rated 4+ on the App Store and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Effective date" at the top will reflect the latest revision. Substantial changes will also be announced inside the app.

By using SleepSounds you agree to the following:
- SleepSounds is a wellness aid, not medical advice. The Sleep Score is based on the answers you give and is not a diagnostic tool. If you have persistent sleep problems, please consult a healthcare professional.
- You will use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes only.
- You will not attempt to reverse engineer, modify, or redistribute the app or its contents.
- The audio in SleepSounds is licensed for in-app playback only and may not be extracted or redistributed.
- Subscriptions are governed by the App Store terms and Section 5 above.
- The app is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, to the extent permitted by law.
