This Privacy Policy describes how LG Remote ("the App"), developed by SFMob, handles your information. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.
LG Remote is a remote control application for LG Smart TVs that operates entirely over your local WiFi network. We designed the App with a privacy-first approach — your data stays on your device.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
LG Remote does not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:
- Personal information (name, email, phone number, address)
- Advertising identifiers or ad tracking data
- Crash reports or diagnostic data sent to external servers
- Location data (GPS, IP-based, or otherwise)
- Device identifiers sent to external services
- Browsing history or TV viewing habits
3. Information Stored Locally
The App stores the following data locally on your device only. This data is never transmitted to any server:
- TV pairing tokens — Stored securely in the iOS Keychain. These tokens allow the App to reconnect to your TV without re-pairing.
- Command counter — A simple count of commands sent, used only to manage free-tier usage limits. Stored in the Keychain to persist across reinstalls.
- User preferences — Your app settings such as selected TV, layout preferences, and premium status.
4. Network Activity
LG Remote communicates exclusively over your local WiFi network:
- The App discovers LG TVs on your local network using standard network scanning protocols.
- Communication with your TV occurs via a direct WebSocket connection on your local network.
- No data is sent to the internet, cloud services, or any remote server operated by us.
- The App does not make any outbound internet connections for its core functionality.
The only internet connection initiated by the App is through Apple's StoreKit framework for in-app purchases, which is handled entirely by Apple.
5. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services:
- Apple StoreKit — Used solely for processing in-app purchases (premium subscriptions and lifetime unlock). StoreKit is provided by Apple and governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Firebase Analytics (Google) — Used to collect anonymous usage data such as screen views and purchase events. No personally identifiable information is collected. Firebase Analytics is governed by Firebase's Privacy Policy.
6. Data Security
We take security seriously and employ the following measures:
- iOS Keychain — Sensitive data such as pairing tokens is stored in the iOS Keychain, Apple's secure, encrypted storage system.
- TLS encryption — The WebSocket connection to your LG TV uses secure encrypted communication (wss://).
- No remote storage — Since no data leaves your device, there is no remote database or server that could be breached.
7. Children's Privacy
LG Remote is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the App does not collect any personal information from any user, it is inherently compliant with children's privacy regulations including COPPA.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
If we make material changes that affect user privacy, we will provide notice through the App or on this page.
