Our Philosophy

We believe what you read is nobody's business but yours. NightReader was designed from the ground up to be a completely private, offline-first application. We have no servers, no user accounts, and no way to access your data — by design.

Data We Collect

None. Specifically:

• No personal information (name, email, phone number)
• No usage analytics or tracking
• No device identifiers or fingerprinting
• No location data
• No advertising identifiers
• No third-party analytics SDKs

Data Stored on Your Device

NightReader stores the following data locally on your device to provide its features:

• Captured page photos and thumbnails
• Notes you write about captured pages
• Book titles and author names you enter
• Your app preferences (brightness, warmth, theme)
• Reading session history
• Subscription status (verified via Apple StoreKit)

This data is stored within the app's sandbox on your device. It is not accessible to other apps and is not transmitted to any server.

Camera & Photo Library

NightReader requests camera access to let you photograph book pages. Photos are saved directly to the app's local storage — not to your photo library — unless you explicitly choose to export them. We never upload your photos anywhere.

Subscriptions & Payments

NightReader offers optional premium subscriptions processed entirely through Apple's App Store and StoreKit 2. We do not have access to your payment information, Apple ID, or billing details. Apple handles all payment processing.

Third-Party Services

NightReader does not integrate any third-party services, SDKs, or analytics tools. The only external communication is with Apple's StoreKit for subscription verification, which is handled by the operating system.

Children's Privacy

NightReader does not collect data from anyone, including children. The app is safe for users of all ages.

Data Deletion

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control over it. You can:

• Delete individual captures, notes, or books within the app
• Delete all app data by uninstalling NightReader

Once deleted, the data cannot be recovered as there is no cloud backup.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever change this privacy policy, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. However, our core principle will not change: your data stays on your device.
