Introduction
PhotoTimeline ("we", "our", or "the app") is a family photo album and timeline application for iOS. It helps you organize, browse, and relive your photo memories — entirely on your device. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how the app works.
Information We Collect
Your photos never leave your device. PhotoTimeline accesses your photo library only with your explicit permission through the iOS photo picker or Photos framework. All photo processing, organization, face clustering, and timeline generation happen locally on your iPhone or iPad. We do not upload, transmit, or store your photos on any server.
We use Firebase Analytics (provided by Google) to collect anonymous usage data, such as:
- App launch and session duration
- Feature usage (e.g., which screens are visited)
- Device type, OS version, and app version
- Crash reports and performance metrics
This data is aggregated and anonymous. It cannot be used to identify you personally or to access your photos.
How We Use Information
The anonymous analytics data we collect is used solely to:
- Understand which features are most useful
- Identify and fix bugs and performance issues
- Improve the overall app experience
- Make informed decisions about future features
Data Storage
All your data — including your timeline, chapters, vault contents, and preferences — is stored entirely on your device. This data is included in your standard iOS device backups (iCloud Backup or local iTunes/Finder backups) according to your device settings. We do not have access to your backups.
Third-Party Services
PhotoTimeline uses the following third-party service:
- Firebase Analytics (Google) — for anonymous usage analytics and crash reporting. Firebase may collect device identifiers for analytics purposes. You can learn more about how Google handles data in the Google Privacy Policy.
We do not use any third-party advertising services, tracking pixels, or social media SDKs.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with anyone. The anonymous analytics data collected through Firebase is governed by Google's privacy practices and is not shared with other third parties by us.
Children's Privacy
PhotoTimeline is a family-friendly app. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). The anonymous analytics we collect do not contain personally identifiable information. If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Effective date" at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
