SlapCamera is designed with privacy at its core. Your photos never leave your device. We do not have servers, accounts, or any way to access your images. The app works entirely offline for its core functionality.
This Privacy Policy explains what data SlapCamera ("we", "our", "the app") collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data.
SlapCamera collects minimal data necessary to operate. Here is a complete breakdown:
| Data | Purpose | Storage |
|---|---|---|
| App settings (timer, flash, burst preferences) | Remember your preferences | On-Device |
| Daily usage counter | Track free session limit | On-Device |
| Purchase status | Unlock premium features | On-Device (Keychain) |
| Anonymous analytics events | Improve the app experience | Firebase Analytics |
| Crash reports | Fix bugs and stability issues | Firebase Crashlytics |
SlapCamera requires certain device permissions to function. Each permission is requested only when needed and can be revoked at any time in your device Settings.
Required to take photos. The camera feed is displayed as a live preview on your screen and is used solely for capturing photos when you trigger a shot. No video is ever recorded or transmitted.
Required for clap detection. Audio is processed in real-time on your device using Apple's SoundAnalysis machine learning framework to detect clap sounds. The raw audio data is never recorded, stored, or sent anywhere. All processing happens entirely on-device.
Required to save captured photos to your device's Photo Library. We request "Add Only" access, which means SlapCamera can save new photos but cannot read or access your existing photos.
We use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics provided by Google to understand how the app is used and to identify crashes.
Analytics events are anonymous and include actions such as "photo captured", "burst completed", or "paywall opened". They do not include any personal information or photo data. Analytics help us understand which features are most used so we can improve the app.
When the app crashes, Crashlytics automatically collects device information (model, OS version), the crash stack trace, and app state at the time of the crash. This data is anonymous and used solely to identify and fix bugs.
You can learn more about how Firebase handles data at Firebase Privacy.
SlapCamera offers premium features through Apple In-App Purchase. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. We do not collect, process, or store any payment information (credit card numbers, billing addresses, etc.).
Purchase status (whether you have an active subscription) is verified on-device using Apple's StoreKit 2 framework and cached securely in your device's Keychain.
For information about how Apple handles purchase data, see Apple's Privacy Policy.
We do not sell, trade, or transfer your data to third parties. Period.
The only third-party service that receives any data is Firebase (Google) for anonymous analytics and crash reports, as described above. No personal data, photos, or audio are shared with anyone.
All app settings and usage data are stored locally on your device. If you delete the app, all local data is removed.
Anonymous analytics data retained by Firebase follows Google's standard retention policies. Crash reports are retained for 90 days.
SlapCamera is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the app does not collect personal information from any users, there is no data to differentiate between age groups.
