Welcome to Focus Garden: Plant & Study ("Focus Garden," "the App," "we," "us," or "our"), a mobile application developed and published by ZenByte App Agency ("ZenByte"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use Focus Garden on iOS (App Store) or Android (Google Play).
By downloading, installing, or using Focus Garden, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
2. Information We Collect
Focus Garden is designed to minimize data collection. We do not require registration, user accounts, or any personally identifiable information to use the App.
2.1 Information Stored Locally on Your Device
The following data is created and stored exclusively on your device using local storage (Hive database). This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to us or any third party:
- Focus session history — records of completed focus sessions, including duration, completion date, plant type, and the biome (theme) selected at the time of the session.
- User statistics — total focus minutes, current streak, best streak, consecutive successful sessions, and last completed date.
- Streak shield state — the number of streak shields you currently hold and the date the most recent shield was granted.
- Active session snapshot — a temporary record of an in-progress focus session (timer state, biome, paused state) used to restore the session if the App is closed and reopened. Cleared automatically when the session ends.
- Saved session — a temporary record created when a streak shield is used after a failed session, allowing the session to be resumed. Cleared once you resume or start a new session.
- Selected biome — the garden theme (Mystic Grove, Sun Oasis, Monsoon Canopy) you have chosen.
- Selected alarm sound — your preferred completion alarm.
- Onboarding state — a flag indicating whether you have completed first-launch onboarding.
2.2 Information We Do NOT Collect
- Names, email addresses, phone numbers, or other personal contact information
- Location data (GPS coordinates or IP-based tracking)
- Photos, camera, or microphone data
- Contacts, calendar entries, or other device data
- User-generated content (the App has no social, sharing, or upload features)
- Advertising identifiers for ad-targeting purposes
- Health, fitness, or biometric data
3. Information Collected by Third-Party Services
Focus Garden integrates the following third-party service. It may collect limited data in accordance with its own privacy policy:

3.1 RevenueCat
We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions and purchases. RevenueCat processes transaction data provided by the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user identifier, purchase receipts, and subscription status information. RevenueCat does not have access to your full payment details (credit card numbers, billing addresses, etc.) — these are handled exclusively by Apple or Google.

4. iOS-Specific Features
4.1 Live Activities (Lock Screen & Dynamic Island)
On iOS 16.1 and later, Focus Garden can display a Live Activity on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island while a focus session is active. The Live Activity shows your remaining time, the selected biome name, and pause/cancel controls. Live Activity data is generated entirely on your device using Apple's ActivityKit framework. No data shown in the Live Activity is transmitted to ZenByte or any third party.
Tapping the Live Activity, or its Pause, Resume, or Cancel buttons, opens the App via a deep link (focusgarden://) and triggers the corresponding action locally.
4.2 Local Notifications
Focus Garden uses Apple's UNUserNotificationCenter (and the equivalent NotificationManager on Android) to schedule a local notification that fires when your focus session completes. The notification plays a custom alarm sound and is scheduled entirely on your device. No notification content is transmitted to or processed by any external server.
You can manage or disable notifications at any time:
- iOS: Settings > Notifications > Focus Garden
- Android: Settings > Apps > Focus Garden > Notifications
4.3 Custom URL Scheme
Focus Garden registers a custom URL scheme (focusgarden://) used solely for in-app deep links from our own Live Activity buttons and notifications. The App ignores any URL it receives that does not match its own internal action paths. This scheme is not used for tracking, advertising, or cross-app communication.
5. How We Use Information
The limited information associated with the App is used for the following purposes:
- App functionality: Locally stored data powers core features such as tracking your focus history, maintaining streaks, restoring an in-progress session after the App is closed, displaying insights (heatmap, best-time analysis, week-over-week comparison), and showing your garden state.
- Subscription management: RevenueCat data ensures your subscription status is correctly recognized so that premium features (additional biomes, streak shield protection, detailed insights) are unlocked appropriately.
- System notifications: Locally scheduled notifications and Live Activity updates inform you when a focus session completes or while a session is active.
We do not use any data for advertising, profiling, behavioral targeting, or selling to third parties.
6. Data Storage and Security
6.1 On-Device Storage
The vast majority of your data is stored locally on your device using the Hive database. This data is protected by your device's native security mechanisms (device encryption, screen lock, biometric authentication, etc.). We do not have access to this data, and it is never transmitted off your device.
6.2 Third-Party Data Storage
Data collected by RevenueCat is stored on its secure servers. RevenueCat employs industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit and at rest. Please refer to its privacy policy: RevenueCat Privacy & Security.
6.3 Media and Visual Assets
All sound files (alarm tones), images (plant stages, biome backgrounds, app icons, lock screen logo), and other media used in the App are bundled within the application package and stored locally on your device. No media content is streamed from or uploaded to external servers.
7. Children's Privacy
Focus Garden is a productivity application suitable for users of all ages. The App does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone, including children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction).
Because the App does not require accounts, does not collect personal information, and does not include advertising, social features, or user-generated content, it is designed to be safe for use by children. However, in-app purchases are available, and we recommend that parents and guardians enable appropriate purchase restrictions on their child's device.

8. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions
Focus Garden offers optional premium features through in-app subscriptions. All purchases and payment processing are handled entirely by the Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android). We do not directly collect, process, or store any payment information such as credit card numbers, billing addresses, or bank account details.
Subscription management is facilitated by RevenueCat, which receives anonymized transaction data from the respective app stores to validate and manage your subscription status. You can manage or cancel your subscriptions at any time through your device's app store settings:

9. Your Rights
Depending on your location and applicable laws, you may have certain rights regarding your data. We are committed to honoring these rights to the fullest extent applicable.

10. Data Retention
- On-device data (Hive): Retained on your device until you clear the App's data or uninstall the App. We have no control over or access to this data.
- RevenueCat data: Subscription and transaction data is retained as long as necessary to manage your subscription and comply with applicable financial regulations and app store requirements.
- Active session and saved session snapshots: Cleared automatically by the App once a session ends, completes, or is replaced by a new session.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. When we make material changes, we will:
- Update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page.
