Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 14, 2026
Profile Camera ("the app", "we", "us") is built privacy-first. The short version: we have no account system, no servers, and we never upload your photos or videos. Your media stays in Apple Photos, and the app's organization data stays on your device. This policy explains exactly what the app does and does not do with your information.
1. What we do not collect
- We do not require or create an account.
- We do not upload, copy, or transmit your photos or videos to any server.
- We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties.
- We do not include your media content, filenames, or location in any analytics.
2. Your photos and videos
When you capture media with Profile Camera, the file is saved to your normal Apple Photos library — exactly like the built-in Camera app. The app does not keep its own copy of your media. To organize your captures into profiles, the app stores a reference to each item (Apple's local identifier) together with the profile it belongs to. This organization data is kept in a local database on your device only.
3. Information stored on your device
The following is stored locally on your iPhone and never leaves it:
- Profiles you create (name, color, icon, settings).
- Links between your captured media and profiles (the asset reference and profile id).
- App preferences (default profile, camera mode, grid, app lock).
- A cached record of your purchase status, used to keep Premium features working offline.
4. Permissions we request
- Camera — to take photos and videos. Requested when you open the camera.
- Microphone — to record audio with videos. Requested only when recording video.
- Photos (Add) — to save your captures to your library.
- Photos (Read/Full Access) — to display the photos you took inside your profiles. Requested when you first open a profile gallery. "Selected Photos" cannot show your own captures, so full access is needed for the gallery to work.
- Face ID / Touch ID — only if you choose to lock a profile or the app. Authentication happens on-device via Apple; we never receive your biometric data.
5. Analytics
The app may record a small number of privacy-safe, anonymous events to help us understand which features are used and improve the product (for example: onboarding completed, a profile created, a capture taken, the paywall shown, a purchase completed). These events never include your photos, videos, thumbnails, filenames, captions, or any content of your media. No advertising identifiers are used.
6. Purchases
Premium is offered through Apple's In-App Purchase (StoreKit). Payments and subscription management are handled entirely by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not receive or store your payment details. The app only keeps a local record of whether Premium is active so features can work offline.
7. Deleting your data
You are always in control. Removing a photo from a profile only removes the link in the app — the photo remains in Apple Photos. Choosing "Delete Everywhere" removes it from both the app and Apple Photos (Apple shows its own confirmation). Deleting a profile removes that profile and its links. Uninstalling the app permanently removes all of its on-device data; your Apple Photos library is unaffected.
8. Children's privacy
The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because no data is collected on a server and nothing is uploaded, your content stays private on your device.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new effective date. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
