Privacy Policy

Basecamp is designed as a local-first fitness experience. This policy explains what the app accesses, why it needs that access, and the choices available to you.

Privacy summary

Basecamp does not require an account, does not contain advertising, and does not sell your personal or Health data. Your activity and journey progress are designed to remain on your device.

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy applies to the Basecamp iOS application and the Basecamp website. “Basecamp,” “we,” and “our” refer to the publisher of the Basecamp application.

Basecamp turns walking activity into progress along virtual journeys. The application can work without an account and does not currently operate a server that receives your Health activity or journey history.

2. Apple Health data

If you choose to connect Apple Health, Basecamp requests read-only access to the following categories:

StepsUsed for daily totals, goals, streaks, and journey progress.
Walking + running distanceUsed to advance your selected virtual journey.
Active energyDisplayed as an activity summary.
Flights climbedDisplayed as an activity summary.

Basecamp does not request permission to write data to Apple Health. Health access is optional, and you can change access at any time in the Health app or iOS Settings.

Health information read by Basecamp is processed on your device for app functionality. It is not used for advertising, marketing, or data mining and is not sold to third parties.

3. Information stored on your device

Basecamp stores application preferences locally, including:

  • Your daily step goal and preferred distance units.
  • Your selected journey and saved journey distances.
  • Onboarding choices and whether onboarding is complete.
  • Notification preference and Apple Health connection state.
  • Recent synchronization markers used to prevent duplicate journey progress.

This information is stored in the application’s private container using iOS local storage. Removing the application may remove this locally stored information unless iOS restores it from a device backup.

4. Purchases and subscriptions

Basecamp Pro purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit. Basecamp checks Apple’s signed transaction information to determine whether premium access is active. We do not receive or store your full payment card details.

Apple may process purchase information under Apple’s own privacy policy. You can manage or cancel an active subscription through your Apple ID subscription settings.

5. Notifications and motion access

If you enable notifications, iOS records your authorization choice so Basecamp can provide app reminders when that functionality is available. You can disable notifications at any time in Basecamp Settings or iOS Settings.

While you use the application, Basecamp may use Core Motion pedometer information to update the visible step count between Apple Health synchronizations.

6. Data sharing and analytics

Basecamp does not currently include third-party advertising SDKs, cross-app tracking, or behavioral analytics. We do not sell or rent personal information.

Information may be disclosed only if required by applicable law or when necessary to protect the security and integrity of the application. If Basecamp’s data practices change, this policy will be updated before new collection begins where required.

7. Your choices and data controls

  • Use Basecamp without connecting Apple Health.
  • Review or revoke Health permissions in Apple Health.
  • Enable or disable Basecamp notifications.
  • Change your daily goal and units from Basecamp Settings.
  • Delete locally stored Basecamp information by removing the application.
  • Manage or cancel subscriptions through Apple.

8. Children’s privacy

Basecamp is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through a future Basecamp service, contact us so the concern can be reviewed.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in the application, legal requirements, or privacy practices. The effective date at the top of this page identifies the latest version. Material changes will be communicated in the application or through the App Store release notes where appropriate.
